Luang Prabang to Kuang Si Waterfall and back

Set off for Kuang Si Waterfall at about 6:15. Lovely to get out of Luang Prabang for the day.

At the 5 km mark we missed the turn and ended up going 5 kms past the junction (uphill on a rough dirt road) which added 10 kms to the trip and wasted a lot of the coolth of the morning. We wanted to get an early start to miss the tourist hordes and to ride back before the predicted 41 degree set in but we only had ourselves to blame.

The waterfall and the pools below it are very photogenic and we had a lovely swim in one of the pools. We left soon after eleven by which time the tourists were arriving in droves.

The little wire bicycle at the Kuang Si falls.

The ride back was not too hot (even the big hill in the middle didn't seem too bad) and we were back home with some street food and cold beer by about 1:30.

Today's ride: 70 km (43 miles)
Total: 1,159 km (720 miles)
