Khao Yai National Park - birding.

The accomodation at Khao Yai is pretty basic and the food available in the few restaurants is even worse but the environment is fantastic. Unfortunately, the manner is which the local tourists made use of the National Park while we were there was much louder and less attuned to nature than what we have become accustiomed to in Africa.

We had tried to arrange a bird guide for our time in Khao Yai but ended up having to wing it on our own. Forest birding is not our forte but we still managed to rack up a few lifers as well as having good views of birds we had seen before.

The mammal life is also good and we had great views and aurals of Pileated Gibbons swinging and singing.

The Pig-tailed Macaques are less likeable and you have to keep a sharp eye out for them if you are trying to enjoy food or drink.

Pileated Gibbon entertaining us 30m up in the canopy.
