Windsor, NS to Halifax, NS
Rain. That's what today was all about. Rain. And lunch!
This is a fitting finale as we've been very fortunate to date with almost no rain riding. I can count on one hand the days we even had a hint of rain since Key West. And only one day where it was as persistent: the ride from Wilmington to Jacksonville, NC.
But it was cold today too. Never much above the low 50s. And yesterday was so beautiful, but so was today in its own way.

So we didn't take many pics and had one long climb up to Lakelands, where we stopped to warm up and grab a bite to eat. I actually thought at the time we were further along by about seven miles than we actually were. Sometimes that's a good thing lol.

So as we sat there and warmed up, we warmed up to all the locals wandering in and out. Rosie knew them all. And they took an interest in us, and we in them. It was fun and relaxing, and we lingered quite a while. But we had to push on, and it was hard getting back in the rain and cold for what I thought was 24 more miles but was really closer to 30. No big deal. We had already made the big climb of the day, and the rest was mostly rolling downhill into Halifax. But it was still wet. And cold.
We were on NS-1 most of the way, which was fine as traffic was not too heavy. It did pick up a bit as we closed on Halifax, but in Sackville we turned right to go west of the Bedford Basin. Then, all of a sudden it seemed, we were back in the country. No complaints here. But eventually, we had to deal with entering the city, which was done officially at lakeside.
After that it was mostly about slugging it to our hotel. Some roads were better than others, but we were mostly on our own (i.e., no bike lanes), but we made it. And to pretty comfortable accommodations: the Westin Halifax.

So tomorrow and Sunday are rest days. Then we head to Yarmouth for the ferry to Portland, Maine. Do we really have to go home? Probably not . . .
Today's ride: 49 miles (79 km)
Total: 3,027 miles (4,871 km)
