We left Washington Saturday morning, with Laurent picking me up at 10:00 AM. I figured, between the picking up of Jerry and Happy and the drive to Delaware, that it would take us till about 3:00 PM to get to Lewes. Things went a bit faster than expected, and packing the bikes turned out to be an easy chore.

My bike (a Cannondale T2000) went on a traditional bike rack. The two Bike Fridays were folded up and fit together in the trunk of the Altima. It took some arranging, but we made it work. Happy and I each had only one bag, having left all our gear in Lewes when we arrived there after the Southern Leg. Jerry had a full complement of front and rear panniers plus his camping gear . . . but we made it fit.

The drive was a breeze, and even with lunch, we arrived shortly before 3:00 PM. Plenty of time to relax, have a beer, and enjoy the visit. My cousin, Linda, joined us at 5:00 PM, and Jim made lasagna. We let the wine flow . . .
