Rest Day in Lewes

Ah, a rest day! Our first since Charleston! Yes, yes, yes, we took a short ride between Nags Head and Kitty Hawk (and after Charleston as well), but in my mind, a true rest day means NO RIDING! You AND the bike get a rest! Stretch the legs, do some walking or other activity, but no bike riding. And it really had been sixteen days (yes, 16!) since we had taken a day off. So a rest day was well deserved, IMHO, and we planned to do nothing . . . or at least I planned to do nothing.

However, it had been a while since I had seen my brother and his partner, Jim. Plus, my cousin was in town from California, who is always loads of fun. Plus, I had promised to help my brother with his taxes . . . plus, plus, plus.

Well, at least I slept in a little (we did go out last night). And I spent the afternoon reviewing taxes (my brother knows what he was doing, so I was no help there). And then my cousin arrived for a late afternoon of catching up. And finally, Ron, Happy's partner, and our ride back to Washington, arrived as well. So there was plenty of socializing and fun.

Ron and Happy had not seen each other since the start of our tour, so they decided to go off for pizza in Lewes. John, Jim, Linda, and I went to Rehoboth for dinner at the Purple Parrot Grill Beach Haus & Biergarten. They have a wonderful crab cake special (1/2 price) on Wednesday night (at least off- or preseason), and, while crowded, we had a great time. And the crab cakes were delicious, at least as good as mine!
