Happy's Arrival
Happy actually arrived in Ft Lauderdale the Thursday before me. But he was staying with his friend Howie and would not connect with me until today. His plan was to bike the 17 miles or so and arrive in the early afternoon. This would give him a chance to test his setup on the Bike Friday and also get familiar with operating the Garmin Edge 1000 under real life conditions. All went smoothly, and Happy arrived around 1:30 or 2:00 o'clock.
We had no serious plans the balance of the afternoon other than to catch up, discuss the trip, and acclimate to the South Florida beach scene. We did this by hitting the Tropic Cay Patio Bar for a pre-dinner drink (not recommended for the highfalutin), followed by dinner at the Casablanca Cafe (highly recommended if you enjoy good food). We chilled further at the bar prior to getting a table but then got one of the better seats in the restaurant with a good view of the scene and a good view to be seen from!
We capped off the evening with a relaxing soak in the Elysium's jacuzzi, followed by a cool dip in the pool. A perfect way to start our adventure.
