Glennville to Savannah
Another McDonald's breakfast! Oh well, it fuels the engine! Otherwise, not many choices in Glennville except Subway. And that was no way.

So we head off east on GA-144. For a long ride through Ft Stewart, my middle name namesake. We had some hills yesterday, but we were now headed east, so I expected things to flatten out a bit. I was not disappointed. Regardless, I was feeling sore from yesterday's ride, so I took it relatively easy. I also find that I've been riding harder in the afternoon (whereas Happy rides harder in the AM).
The challenge today, however, was the long straightaways with repetitive terrain (i.e., pine trees). It was literally mile after mile of very similar terrain. Not bad looking, just repetitive and long. Like six miles of straight highway (or so it felt).
Not much else to say except that the two short alternative routes that RWGPS had suggested in lieu of GA-144 turned out to be dirt roads. And after the recent heavy rains, probably worse than otherwise.

So any relief from the boredom was dashed, and, to make matters worse, our route was extended. Not a big deal, but variety would have been nice. Later on, we saw lots of these:
The funny part about these signs was that the direction of the tank was random, perhaps indicating the primary direction of travel.
We finally escaped Ft Stewart only to be dropped into the exurbs of Savannah. US-17 is a designated bike route sorely in need of help. We followed it all the way into Savannah, and I have to say it was not a pretty or pleasant introduction. We did stop for a haircut at Jack and Jill's Barber Shop and got a great trim by Big Dray.
Today's ride: 60 miles (97 km)
Total: 988 miles (1,590 km)
