Day 54: The Orloogsmuseum and Two More Flats

Day 54: Saturday, 2 July 1983

Start: Campground, Groesbeek, Netherlands

End: Hostel, Beegden, Netherlands

Left Groesbeek around 9:00. Cold morning. Riding south. This is the same route I did last week, but in the opposite direction. Two more flats. I'm being really careful to check the tire and tube every time, but these keeping happening in pairs. Jeez, that's a great way to ruin a good day. Paused briefly to eat miscellaneous leftovers out of my handlebar bag for lunch. Around 1:00 I stopped at the Orloogsmuseum in Overloon and spent three hours touring their WWII equipment and displays. [2010 Note: Omitting lengthy description of tanks, warplanes, etc.]

Afterwards stopped at a restaurant for dinner. Pulled into the same hostel from last week in Beegden around 7:30. Not bad considering two flats, tour of the museum, and dinner along the way. No sign of my busking Irish friend. Each traveller moves at his own pace in his own direction.

Gotta get some sleep tonight and head for the Ardennes tomorrow.
