Tentative route map
Here's the plan, in six stages.
- Frankfurt to Dijon, roughly following EuroVelo 15
- Dijon to Barcarès, following EuroVelo 6 and V75 (Véloroute du Bourbonnais) to Moulins, then smack dab through the middle of the Massif Central to the Mediterranean coast
- Barcarès to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, following V81 (La Vélosud)
- Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Fisterre, following EuroVelo 3 the entire way. This is El Camino Francés, or at least the cyclist version of it. We do plan to get credencials del peregrinos and get all certified at Santiago de Compostela. I mean, why not? I love collecting stamps!
- Fisterre to Lisboa via EuroVelo 1. We may wander inland if we tire of nonstop beach scenery.
- Lisboa to Madrid, with a little side trip to Toledo. We're just kind of winging it at this point, which is great.
