Another great day on a bike: We still haven't made it to Honfleur

We woke up to sunny skies.....Yeh! The forecast had been for the same as yesterday, so here's hoping they are wrong, and the sun continues.

Last night when we crossed the street for dinner, it rained like we had never seen, and the wind was hurricane force. We were both soaked again in about 2 minutes! We had to go back to our hotel, change again, and have dinner there. Good thing we had stopped biking, as that wind would have certainly blown us off our bikes.

We got a little earlier start this morning from Courseulles-surMer 9am. Still a little work to go on that. As soon as we went around the block, we came upon a huge market. I love these, so we spent an hour pushing our bikes through the crowds to have a look at the goods and amazing food. Great place to pick up a picnic lunch.

As usual, we had a hard time getting out of the town, and finding the right direction. We asked a few people for the directions to the Canadian cemetery, and after about another hour, plus, we finally made it. It is a very peaceful and beautiful place. So tranquil. It was so sad to read the grave markers and remember how young these soldiers, who gave their life for us, were.

After we left the cemetery, we cycled about 10 kms on fairly busy roads, and the rest of the day was mostly dedicated cycle paths. We stopped for coffee at the charming town of Douvres. From there, we cycled to Merville-Franceville, after getting lost for over an hour in Quistreham. It seems that when you are touring, getting lost is an everyday occurrence

We were standing at a an intersection in Quisterham, trying to get directions, when it started pouring, along with heavy winds. Just super! Fortunately, it only lasted about 10 minutes, and we were able to get under a canopy. After we got underway again, we proceeded to get lost and backtrack for a least an hour.

We finally found the cycle path, and had just commented how great it was, when all of a sudden "deviation"! It was like deja vu of last year, and I thought we would escape the mud this time. Fortunately, it wasn't too bad, but we had quite a few detours, and a couple of long, steep climbs.

The rest of the cycleway was very beautiful, mostly along the sea. We spent the night in Mervelle-Franceville, which is a very pleasant seaside town, and we had a great dinner. There is always good food and wine at the end of the day!
