This was one of the most relaxed arrivals ever. Our nonstop flight from Portland left about noon and arrived at MSP at 5 - plenty of time for Rachael to hit the gym one last time before we left, and plenty of time at the other end to pick up our rental car for the weekend, check in to our lodging, walk down near the river for dinner and take a short late-day stroll to Raspberry Island and the Wabasha Street Bridge.

Walking along the river, I heard the thrilling sound of a loon flying by in the distance. I don't believe I've seen or heard a loon since we were in Maine 28 years ago, on our first anniversary tour. This will be a great two weeks - I like it here already.

The Wabasha Street Bridge is beautiful tonight, adorned with flags celebrating gay pride month. We'll have to come by again during the day when the light is better.
