Happy birthday, Jose!

José Marti was a revolutionary set on achieving Cuba's independence long before Castro and Guevara. He was not just a revolutionary but a writer and poet. Havana's airport is named after him and the country is heavy with statues of him. Our visit coincided with the 150th anniversary of his birth. There were parades and shouting and singing in the street, in this case by school children. I can't tell you just what was going on but it was all good fun for those concerned.
