To the beaches

Today was actually the easiest day that we have had so far.  It was only 37km with some climbing but nothing stupid so I managed to do it all.  Before we started the ride we had to drive for 2 hours which on these roads is a challenge.  Even when we started riding I think today’s roads were the worst with giant pot holes and washed out muddy sections.  We had lunch on the beach today and as we left there was a tour bus stuck in a giant mud hole in the road.  We had another river crossing before our final destination of Samara.  We are here for 2 nights so no cycling tomorrow but some zipling and maybe a kayak tour among the mangroves.

Black bellied ducks where stayed last night.

Tim modelling his new cycling jersey. The little emblems are the shape of CR.

On the road, notice the big mud puddles we had to navigate.

Hilary JaegerThis is why 37 km = a day’s ride. Us ‘roadies’ need a little reminder that not all kilometres can be covered in 2’30” or so. Still looks like fun, with the possible exception of the wet feet from fording rivers!

I have some “war paint” under my eyes put there by one of the guides. It is clay from the river bed.
