Moreton in Marsh loop #1

  • "We finally started cycling today.  We met at 9:15 to receive our bikes and review the proceedings for the next 6 days.  Our route today was a loop out of Moreton in Marsh.  We passed through the countryside and several small, pcharming villages.  We stopped for lunch in the village of Snowshill at a very local pub.  We rode 55km with 2800’ of climbing.  There no really long climbs and most were in the 5-7% range but we did have a couple of short sections of 10-12%.  It was a coolish day with a brisk breeze but no rain.

One of our stops today was the village of Blockley that doubles as the village of Kembleford in the show.  As a matter of fact many of the cast are staying in our hotel and I have seen some of them but not spoken to them.

The map of our route.

As we approached Broadway tower we came across this war monument to an RAF crew that crashed and perished on a trying mission near here in 1943. Two of the crew were RCAF.

Dinner tonight of vegetarian fish and chips which is not fish at all. It was pan fried halloumi cheese with thick pub chips and peas.
