We stayed in a lovely modern flat last night in Stratford but when we woke up this morning it was raining. We had already decided to take a 30 min Uber to Moreton in Marsh because otherwise we would have had to drag our luggage to the train station, take at least 2 trains, travel for about 2 hours and then drag our luggage to the hotel. The £44 cost seemed worth it. Of course we arrived way too early so we wandered around a bit and visited the local market that happens every Tuesday. Moreton’s history is one of being a market town since the 1700s. We had lunch at our hotel killing time until check-in at 3pm. At check-in there was a rather unpleasant surprise, they did not have our reservation and they did not have any rooms. The hotel changed hands recently and Stuart, the manager, had only worked here for 4 weeks. He told us that he was hired because he was a good problem solver, well we gave him one. After some back and forth, and some drinks on the house the proprietor found a suitable solution. Tim and I got an upscale room at the original place because we needed a twin room. Hilary and Christopher moved across the street for 2 nights but they have to go to a town 5 miles away for the last night, transportation will be provided. I spoke o Saddle Skedaddle several times and they assured me that the rest of trip is all in order since cycling starts tomorrow.
There are dogs everywhere here and welcome in pubs and restaurants
More of the town. This area is also very popular with hikers. While we aimed for our rooms we chatted with 2 Australia women who were here for exactly that purpose for a week.
