To L’Isle-Sur-la-Sorgue

Not the most satisfying day of the tour, as we rode south from Vaison-la-Romaine.  I imagine it would have been an excellent ride in better weather conditions, as we followed the contour of the hills through a string of colorful wine villages, the jagged outline of the Dentelles de Montmirail above us on our left and the broad Rhone valley below on the right.  It was just too hot and humid though, especially at the end of the day when we came to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.  I don’t recall much about this town but a vague memory of dissatisfaction with it and our lodging.  Too busy and touristy maybe, or perhaps just too uncomfortable.

Much of the day’s ride took us south through a string of wine villages. The jagged formation ahead is the Dentelles de Montmirail.

I’m not sure, but I think this is shot from Gigondas, looking down at Vacqueyras and across the Rhone.
