Impressions of Netherlands

A country of sane, friendly, hard working, tidy people, almost all of whom can speak to us in English, Netherlands rates near the top of the greatest places for us to cycle. Here is what we liked best:

1. Bicycle paths everywhere, like everywhere 2. Three bicycle route systems signed on the roads and paths: long distance (LF) routes, knoopunt system, and signs pointiing bicycles toward named towns. 3. Intensive, successful agriculture to look at, and eat: cheese, fruits, veggies. Did I mention cheese? 4. Beautiful buildings with high tile roofs and decorative brick work. Beautiful barns. 5. Reasonable prices for food and camping 6. Interesting city of Amsterdam

What we didn't like:

1. Smokers 2. Scooters allowed on the bike paths - very, very dangerous 3. High speed/ aggessive cyclists 4. High risk of bicycle theft.

Today's ride: 71 km (44 miles)
Total: 497 km (309 miles)
