Pedal to the Metal in the Flatlands: Rutherglen to Tocumwal

This was an excellent day of riding. The weather was near perfect
and roads flat.

An interesting incident was rescuing a waterbird entangled by fishing line in shore edge deeds of Lake Mulwala. I stopped to take a photo and heard the distressed bird. The problem was the bird was so entangled, knife or scissors were needed. I called out to a fisherman about 60 metres offshore in a tinny boat. He putted in, lent me scissors which I used to release the bird.

This led to a conversation with the fisherman who said he was a truck driver who hated cyclists...except ones like me!. I thanked him for the loan of the scissors and headed on down the road.

We camped on the Murray River bank at Bushland Campground near Tocumwal. Beautiful location right on the river in river redgum forest.
We cooked a meal on the Trangias and ate just in time to avoid a heavy downpour.

A good nights sleep in the bivvy bag.

Source of my favourite breakfast.. Uncle Toby’s rolled oats
