Hurricane Katrina flooded many houses in the Lower Ninth Ward. Many of these houses were abandoned by their owners. The government cleared many of these ruins, leaving vacant lots.

My Warm Showers host is an experienced construction worker. A few years ago, he came across these vacant lots while cycling through the Southern US and bought one. Now he's living in a trailer on the property and asking guests to help him build a house. So I'm helping out a few hours everyday.
