Day 2 off to Eparney

Today we rode from Reims to Eparney through champagne country and the regional park of the mountains of Reims.  The ride was only 49km with 2000’ of climbing but it was the hardest 49km I have ever ridden given my pig of a bike.  I had to walk 2 of climbs that would have been manageable on a proper road bike.  The worst climb was 1km long at 7-14% and there was no way I was doing that on this bike. We are now in Eparney for 2 nights and it may rain tomorrow so we will see if we ride or just enjoy champagne.

Look what we found along the way a bike made with champagne bottles.

Brother John and his wife Beth with the the bike we found in one of the small towns. Given that it is yellow I suspect the Tour de France went through here one year.
