What We Thought of the Bodensee Radweg

The Bodensee of course has real people doing real jobs, but it also is a vacation playland. It is well developed, all the way around, and that means there is a wealth of services. The radweg has no rough or gravel portions, though there is quite a bit of travel through quiet neighbourhoods, on road. The lake, or course, is beautiful. Fruit production is big in many areas too. Not every town is gorgeous, but there are several that are very eye catching. Konstanz, Bregenz, and Lindau are standout places, and so is Schaffhausen, if you count it in, though really it is on the Rhein. Stein am Rhein is the most gorgeous of all, though it too is "am Rhein".

Bodensee Pros

Good level path close to lake
Many available services
Many interesting places
Fruit
Family friendly - has activities, including beaches
Good signage

Bodensee Cons

Some on road sections
Not every town is a standout
Very developed - often more like suburban riding than touring

Summary: We willl be back (hopefully with grandchilden in tow)
