Today was a day I had to concentrate on the controllables and just get through 10km at a time. The scenery comprised of a straight road through the Kazakh Steppe, and stayed that way ALL day. A relentless 45km/h cross wind ensured that I was drained when I rolled into Usturt, a dusty desert town with very little going on. I am staying at Kenzhebhai house, a comfortable family home with friendly adults and spoilt annoying young children! 70km into my ride today, I stopped at a roadside rest spot and was approached by two Kazakh engineers who had also stopped. Yuri and Vitali shared their delicious lunch with me and gave me a much needed hot coffee to set me up! Yet again, kindness of strangers warming my heart. Yuri and Vitali were the highlight of my day.
Today's ride: 110 km (68 miles)
Total: 398 km (247 miles)
