I am no bird expert, but today I wish I was. I rode through some flatlands where a particular large specie of long necked white and grey bird had made its very large nest on the top of electricity poles! Each pole had between 3 and 4 nests on them, and were spaced about 50m apart, for tens of kilometers! It was such a sight to see so many nests for such a distance! It made my day that much more interesting. I couldn't help smile as I pedalled alongside this spectacle. The photos I took don't do it justice. The ride today was windless, and flat, so I made good progress to cover the distance to Gulistan. I had numerous motorists hooking and shouting encouragement as they drove past me. This is always a good thing, and I make the effort to acknowledge every single one with a smile and a wave. It seems to excite them no end! Often, I look on Google maps after entering a town for a place to stay. Today I found the Platinum Hotel, which is not on Google maps and checked in there. The owner was very pleased when I told him I would be informing Google of his establishment and putting it on maps. A long day was suitably celebrated with dinner and a short walk around a small part of town. Tomorrow I hope to reach Tashkent, the new capital city of this amazing country.
Today's ride: 109 km (68 miles)
Total: 1,591 km (988 miles)
