Last Rest Day Luang Prabang: researching China visa extension

Last night on our way home from dinner we stop in at the internet cafe again. We have a message from the guy Patrick has been writing with about extending our China visa. He says he can change our visas from a tourist type to a business type valid for 6 months!! That would help us enormously.

We decide to only stay one more day in Luang Prabang and head for China. In Dali we'll try to make the visa change by sending the passports to him. With the longer visa we can then take our time to ride to Dege via Chengdu (or not) and join the Bike China tour on April 30 (or not).

Our plan is to follow the Belgium cyclists advice and take the slow boat to Pakbeng tomorrow, then ride North to China from there. We have breakfast at Ja Ma one last time...good coffee!! Rachel goes out for some final souvenir shopping and buys our boat tickets. Patrick returns to the internet cafe to reply to messages.

After lunch we mail yet another box with stuff home, costs us $49USD for sea mail at 3.7kg. Patrick exchanges more money hopefully enough to make it to the border. We watch a movie in our room and have our dinner, same place and food we've had when we first arrived: lasagna and salad at Ja Ma!

Tomorrow morning we'll head for China!
