DAY 7: Eugene to Mckenzie Bridge: "Cycling towards paradise"

DAILY STATS

Mileage: 66.69

Average Speed:12.25mph

Maximum Speed: 29.7mph

Woke up and had a great breakfast with Nicole, Bob, and Karen before heading out around 8:30am. I'm really going to miss the time we spent at their place!

It took awhile to get through Eugene, but once we were, it was smooth riding through the McKenzie River Valley.

Well hello there! You look delicious.

As it turns out, the annual TransAm racer started yesterday in Astoria. And guess who started passing us all throughout the day? The really hardcore, ultra-enduranxe folks trying to win. The record is 13 days (an average of x miles/day), which is considerably faster than what we're doing (duh).

We almost made it to the junction to turn up McKenzie Pass, but with potential thunderstorms beginning to role in, we decided to pull off and camp at Paradise Campground. It was lush and green, with tons of ferns growing everywhere.

Hopefully these thunderclouds don't foreshadow a sketchy day across the pass tomorrow.

Pretty sweet campsite for the night, right along the river.

A great place to decompress and read for a bit. Literally 5 feet from our tents
