Day 24 - On Eagles’ Wings

“You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.” Psalm 91:5-6

Another day! I woke up and snoozed so many alarms. Let myself go until 4:30 which felt nice. My body is so out of rhythm with this midnight sun. So crazy. Took awhile to get moving. Finally left. Pretty chill opening 40 miles. Not many hills. Then once they started, they started. I stopped for food around 50. Met a lady named Angie and got talking. Stayed for too long eating there but finally got going. The hills were brutal but they woke me up. Felt good to climb. I saw a massive bear in the morning too. Not much happened just some beautiful views. Made it to another gas stop at 105 and paid for WiFi $5 for 30 minutes to call Caleb and then my parents and got to talk to Ms. Melinda too! Got some sandwiches and recharge. Honestly my best stop yet. Very productive but relaxing. Got going and it just got more and more beautiful. The mountains and the rivers were insane. There’s this feeling looking at it and I just thought to myself I can’t believe there’s a place more beautiful. It’s a crazy feeling just you and the mountains but knowing there’s God with you. I don’t know how to describe. Just a special moment. Grinded on the rest of the hills. They were actually killer. Just relentless. Every time I made it up one, I would come over top just to see another looming pretty close. So demoralizing. I had 2 big climbs left with 30 miles left and was really struggling physically. Legs seemed gassed. I just kept clipping off the miles and eventually finished the climbing but my legs were cooked. Struggled the last 15 but finally made it and got to meet Jordan! Set up camp and got to bed fairly quick. Loving it out here. Can’t wait for the ocean. Also, I passed 2 moose road kill and 1 bear road kill. Kinda crazy. I can’t imagine the damage that must’ve done to a car.
