Day 13 - Let It Rain
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:28-31
Woke up and was energized. Got going at 6:50 which is late but sun sets late and rises late here. Beautiful morning, I scared an elk and sent it sprinting off into the woods. Gas station at 10. Not much going on until later. Just your typical day riding your bike through British Columbia. I saw lots of clouds rolling in which made it chilly and prayed for the run to stay away. It did for the most part. Got to talk to Elise, Brigitte, Mom, and Mrs. Nelson. Absolutely stunning views. Got to talk to Caleb and it’s such a blessing to have someone that can simply take your mind off the miles. Got to talk to Luke and then Dad which is also so good to bounce lots of ideas off him as he probably knows me better than I do lol. I stopped for awhile at the gas station for subway and lots of food. Most I’ve ever spent at a gas station. Called mom as I began the climb and saw a bighorn sheep. I’ve dreamed of seeing one of these. It was incredible. Passed a bunch of mountain goats or something?? I’m not too sure but they didn’t even look up from the middle of the road. The climb was hard but short. Only about 7 miles. Descent was epic with the views. I expect afternoon showers everyday and they came again today. Yesterday I got rained on 5 times I think today was 7 with some snow/hail. Cold! I was trying to find joy in it and not just be bogged down mentally. So I just yelled as I prayed. Kinda fun. It got really chilly so I stopped to warm up about 10 miles away. Stomach is pretty wrecked from my horrible diet. Made it to the continental divide and I had service! I called mom and interrupted Dad’s meeting. Everyone has been warning me about bears so I am pretty nervous. Please pray for continued safety from bears and wisdom as well as I don’t know how to deal with bears if they are close to you. Love you all. Thanks for motivating each day. Cell is going to be a lot more spotty so expect these to usually be posted late. Also met Max and Rhiannon! Max was earlier on in the day. He didn’t know where Chicago was or Prudhoe bay. It’s weird being in between the US. And Rhiannon I met right where I stopped for the night. Pics coming later
