Day 12 - Taste and See
“This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.” Psalm 34:6-7
Another day with emotions all over the place. It started off so high with getting such an incredible breakfast with the family. I packed up my stuff after winning a game of uno no mercy. You could say I’m awesome. Got to bike to school! Still continually blown away by this family. I stopped at a bike shop and was out pretty quickly. I had another scary road with drivers close to me and very fast. I was pretty frustrated as I also had winds. Wind and hills is not a fun combo. I was really frustrated and my earbuds have been breaking and they were just draining my phone’s battery. So frustrating cause I couldn’t listen to music or call to get out of my head. I was 35 miles in and was pretty cooked. I kept fighting and got new earbuds which was much better. I hit the border crossing and got to talk to Papa right before. It’s weird saying you’ve come from Chicago and all you have is a bike. A lot of staring. Border crossing was chill and I met a guy driving to the Arctic Ocean so I’ll see him on the Alaskan highway when he’s on his way back. He was blown away by me lol. Called mom to get pumped up. So fun to have that. I rode along and it was beautiful. I stopped for food at 95 and the lady working was so kind. I had her check prices for me and she gave me 15 bars for 4.99. I usually think 100/$1 is a good deal but that was 511/$1!!! Same with some donuts that she gave to me for $2. Another steal. I have so much food now lol from that and the Binford’s. So grateful. Got to talk to Ellis as he hyped me up the rest of the way. Made it to the site and had to pay. Oh well. Absolutely stunning coming into camp. Filmed for Instagram 😭 and then caught up on a lot of stuff. Heading to bed shortly. I’m a little bit more excited for tomorrow now.
