Another stunning day. This was an out and back ride in a valley with a long uphill of about 12 miles then downhill back. We gained over 3800’ in the 12 miles with some solid 4 miles over 9%. Painful but it was just breathtaking.  The valley was surrounded by surprisingly, incredibly steep  walls on both sides. I saw some Climbers taking advantage of the walls.

We went through numerous tunnels that were surprisingly cold. One tunnel had a gravel bike go around that was just lovely. We saw small herd of Ibex and hadn’t realized they were domesticated. Lots more cowbells and gurgling creeks filled our ears all day, that. The area was a national park called Gran Paradiso and much loved by Pope John Paul II. Brody rode to the end and went up the gravel path a bit where the whole valley opens up below him.

I stopped to peek over side of bridge and was shocked how far down it went!
