Roermond

Saturday

The Van der Valk had a great breakfast. Afterwards, we pedaled past the beautiful Dutch countryside, past horses, WW 2 bunkers, greenhouses, dairy farms and rode 7 ferries.

We passed the Hertog Jan Brewery, a local hot spot. Due to our extended mileage, we were unable to stop, probably for the better. But we did take a breather at a dairy farm with a vending machine that had milk, yogurt and ice cream for sale. We stopped for chocolate milk. I am not exaggerating when I say it alone is worth the trip to the Netherlands. The deliciousness and power of the chocolate milk motivated us to finish the ride with renewed energy.

At a dairy between Velden and the German border.

Ash and I finished the day in Roermond at a fine hotel near the train station with another great dinner.
