SOTD

Putting this right up front today ‘cause there’s nothing else to talk about.

Still Is Still Moving To Me, Toots and the Maytalls with Willie Nelson.

What?

Yes.

Willie’s played this with just about everyone, and as for the song, it may not look to others like we’re moving today, but to us, there was lots!

And now here’s another massive Aunt Betty goes to Ft lauderdale photo album to wade through. Enjoy.

Down to the river walk on Sunday morning. Still very quiet, a perfect time to be here.

Nice fountain and square at the river, this was about 150 m from our hotel.

Ivan Hribar, Slovenian politician, diplomat and journalist.Obviously a favourite son of Ljubljana given the location of his statue!
Heart 1 Comment 0
Tell me you didn’t do that on Ivan’s head!

Flea market set up along the river. This stall was selling lots of vinyl. Any guesses on who these guys are? Certainly they aren’t as popular as Lojze Slak.

New trend, get a dog to match your shoes

A little black & white to add ‘period colour’ - I love oxymorons

Ljubljana street scenes as we make our way up to the castle.

Still very quiet at 10 on Sunday morning. Beautiful time to be out.

Another very well behaved pooch. No lead, didn’t move from his companions side.

It was a good brisk climb to the castle. There’s a funicular and it appears that most folks arrive here via that.

At the castle.

Same pic in period colour (or lack thereof)

Small chapel in the castle. The whole place is undergoing renovation as it was used as a prison / jail as recently as the 1940’s during WWII

The castle also hosts a puppet museum. Not that Ljubljana is well known for puppets, but it was pretty cool to see them and they were very well presented
Heart 2 Comment 0
more puppets- gruesome times so gruesome figures

lonely little guy

It’s a cycling journal site - so here’s some bikes

By the base of the funicular. Don’t know why they have a Roo fountain, but they do.
Heart 4 Comment 0
In the old town. It’s around noon and getting crowded. Judicious camera angles required

Cool door on a Cathedral- it had just shut up for the day so we didn’t go in

Close up on their faces - very detailed and all different

… and this guy was ranting away in the square in front of the church where the above picture was taken. He was roundly ignored by everyone but undeterred

More bikes to fill the quota

just like the green and yellow contrast. This was in a garden area just off the busy river walk and it was full of bars, restaurants and cafes.

When we were having our afternoon gelato, this troupe of gents came marching and chanting out of an adjacent building. Interesting but not a clue what’s it’s about

Dinner tonight was at Breg, another Monsieur M recommended place about 200 m from our hotel. Very casual and classic Slovenian cuisine. No aimless wandering the streets for us! My soup of the day, carrot, to start

Great selection of wine’s by the glass and a great table beside the river walk.

Karin KaarsooLooks yummy. That's what Scott was going to make tonight but I asked for something more summery so tuna it is. Of course, now it has clouded over and it is getting cooler.

I pointed out this very elegant tea shop to K. She’s a tea lover. She informed me that she was checking this place out earlier this afternoon, as we were walking past it, together, and told me how nice it was . Oops.
