And..yes..another one! Two blocks away! Must be “something” in the soil of this neighborhood to get these to actually flower…

This plant is here as a “dog” repellent . Supposedly the scent of this plant will keep the dog from leaving their “mark’.. Must be working because the plant is healthy AND flowering!

The roundabout two blocks up from my house. After a DUI ruined the original sculpture in this location, the city of Santa Cruz put 4 wine barrels in its place to keep the kids from skateboarding in the empty spot. Someone put some soil in, then added some flowers, but neglected it a few months later. I “adopted” this project about 5 years ago and am still at it!

Scott AndersonWhat a distinctive plant! I've never seen one of these but it's hard to misidentify: fairy fan-flower (Scaevola aemula), from Australia.

Scott AndersonWhat is that globular thing in the center of your red fireworks (kangaroo paws?)?

Karen PoretTo Scott AndersonThis globular thing is a piece of glass from a local art studio we go to each September when “Open Studios” is held. We have several pieces in our yard, all picked carefully to make sure they will “fit”.
The artists are Scott and Cristy whose business is named “Viscosity Art Glass”… check it out! …viscositystudio.com

Cold morning; biked to Westside of Santa Cruz to pick out plants for barrels and gifts.

To offset the misery in most of the world nowadays, and not being able to bike everywhere I prefer,  I took photos yesterday when I did bike around Santa Cruz. I am trying to set a positive tone with flowers like Scott A does with his birds. 😬

I do hope everyone will enjoy this and I look forward to doing some biking again here when school starts and the mad traffic (*should) get a bit easier around here…*except for the cut through neighborhoods where the Murray Street Bridge retrofit is continuing…
