On to the Andela Lora

Start of our bike and boat tour

Yay! The next segment of our journey has begun.

In the van headed to our bike and boat tour

This afternoon we boarded the Andela Lora in Omisalj and shortly headed out to sea, to the island of Cres. A short city walk in the town of Cres and then dinner back on the boat.

Our guides are Ivan and Petra. Ivan is the English speaking guide and Petra speaks German, both hale from Croatia. There are 24 in the group, 9 of us are English speakers. The guides can communicate with us through a chalkboard in the dining room and through what’s app.

We took a city tour through Cres through lots of narrow alleyways

A palace, when the wealthy people moved in to Cres after leaving a nearby island they built several palaces

Cres has many many churches, about 300 on the island of 3000 people.

The city tower that was once in the city wall. Enterprising citizens built their homes into the city wall so they only had to build three walls instead of four.

There was a festival going on and this parade of women and men in local dress came through the town singing and playing music

We will start riding tomorrow in Pula. Our bikes are waiting for us in the bike garage below deck.
