Arrival!

Seven Feathers to Kitsap

Very nice bike shop in Roseburg may have resolved Jim’s valve problem.

James FitchMark & Scott,
Thanks for the route input! I already had an alternate route along the dike prepared; it will now be implemented along with most of Mark’s suggestions. And I’ll take a look at Scott’s suggestion for south of Bellingham. Especially now that Mark has ratified it. Thanks again.

Alas, Jim’s tire was dead-bang flat this am so about 50 miles north of Seven Feathers, we took a quick detour to the Canyon Creek bike shop in Roseburg to see they could reseat the valve. While they checked it out, we took a little walk through downtown Roseburg.

A lovely stone bridge led to downtown.

Conor, at the bike shop, assured us the valve problem was resolved. Time will tell but at this point, we would definitely recommend this bike shop!

As we drove north, I got fleeting views of Cascade volcanos.

After a great dinner at a local brewpub, we walked along the waterfront of Dyes Inlet and the Hood Canal.

Scott AndersonDead-bang flat! Unfortunates, but a nice phrase. I like that.

James FitchScott & Mark,
Near as I can tell, the bridge that connects with the road on the west side of Lake Samish is out and the road is closed. It’s not far out of our way to check it out, so we may do that. Closed doesn’t necessarily mean closed to bikes, as we know. I assume the last time you saw the bridge it was open?

Scott AndersonTo James FitchThat looks to be true, Jim. There's a project to replace the bridge, and the project website says it's closed to all traffic, including pedestrians and bicycles. It isn't expected to be reopen until August.
