Fairy Meadows Day Hike

Training trek for K2

In the morning, we walk around the Fairy Meadows

After lunch, we take a day hike to get closer to Nanaga Parbat. We stop at a viewpoint, though the trail continues onto basecamp.

Lots of new construction. There is a camping area on the green grass as an option.

Looking north over the Indus Valley towards the Karakoram Range and Rakaposhi.

Hiking up along the Raikot Glacier closer towards Nanga Parbat.

A seasonal village where herders bring their flocks up to graze during the summer months.

New construction, probably an attempt to earn some of the tourist dollars comming this way.

Rachel and Patrick HugensTo Kathleen ClassenThanks Kathleen, this was the "training" trek for the K2 Trek. It's fantastic! and along the way we met cyclists on the KKH that had met our friend from Boise in Nepal! Small world.

Rachel and Patrick HugensTo Rachael AndersonThanks Rachael...I guess it's a bit of a stretch, but decided if we had done this trek in the middle of a tour we'd post it, so why not here at the end.
