Day 55: Matteson to Stoney Run Park

Being a short mileage day, we slept in and enjoyed the comfort of the air conditioned and mosquito free hotel room. With no camp to break, we took a long breakfast in the lobby and watched the second half of the Formula 1 race. Most of the day we rode through the suburbs of Chicago on bike paths - first the remainder of the Old Plank Road then the paved Thorn Creek trail weaving through the Forest Reserves of Cook County (IL).
We crossed into Indiana on one of the many tail trails around Chicago (Pennsy Greenway) . We stopped at a brewery in Griffith, IN for lunch and then a local grocery store for dinner supplies. The last 12 miles of the day were on road and we ended at Stoney Run County Park to camp for the evening.
