Day 52: Tipton to Geneseo
Thankfully, it was a cool evening, so sleeping was a good experience at the fairgrounds. After the usual breakfast, we broke camp and hit the road. A low haze lingered all day. Starting on county roads into a stiff headwind, the view was much of the same with corn and soybean fields until we reached the city of Davenport. We stopped at Sippi’s along the waterfront for lunch and beer (see burger review). Riding along the West Bank of the River, we passed Rock Island Arsenal and then proceeded to cross the Mississippi River into Illinois on a wonderful bike lane. In Moline, we continued on the east bank northward, and eventually made our way through the quad cities on bike paths before we transitioned to the Hennepin Canal path in Colona. We stopped just north of Geneseo at the Izaak Walton campground to set up camp, and then we road into town for dinner at the local brewery.
