Extra day in Windsor

Last day in England

Today was our last full day in England and an extra day in Windsor.  I went out early to capture some photos before the crowds showed up.  Today there was also a triathlon going on so many of the roads were closed to traffic.  We took a walking tour for 2 hours to learn more about Windsor followed by afternoon tea at our hotel.

There will be lots photos of Windsor castle from several angles, this is the first.

Two interesting mail boxes. The red one is a current box with the Queen’s markings on it. The blue one is a relic from before the First World War when only air mail was put in the box. It is 1 of 2 still left in the country but no longer used. It has George V markings.

A crooked old building in town from 1712. It is crooked because it was made with green oak and when it dried the house tilted. Apparently King Charles II used to escape the palace to here to meet his many mistresses. He had no legitimate children but 14 with his mistresses.

More of the geese here. Swans are protected by royal decree and consisted treason if you kill them
