The  forecast today was terrible but a little better in the AM so 3 of us set off about 10 to do the scheduled ride, Christopher decided to stay behind.   We did a loop ride of 43km with 2000+’ of climbing.  The climbs here are not particularly long but they were steep, we had 3 today that reached 15%, hence I was happy to be on an e-bike.  Even on an e-bike my heart rate reached 140 because I tried to minimize the boost, and the bike weighs 60lbs. We went to the village of Bibury that was supposed to be something special but we were underwhelmed.  Bourton on the water is much nicer.  The ride was on very quiet country roads passing by many farms.  In fact, we  stumbled across a couple lambs that had escaped their enclosure. The three of us failed to  herd them back into the field. In fact while Tim had the gate open, the flock  of sheep started to come towards him so, re re-locked the gate and left the two loners to find a way back into the field.  Once back in town we cleaned up, had lunch and went to the local motor museum.

We passed through this lovely village that has a market history going back to 1227.

Steve Miller/GrampiesHaving had sheep in the past we can tell you that the trick is to herd them towards the gate with several people looking large (think arms out to sides) in a wedge shape moving very slowly forward. Even then, sheep are notoriously hard to move unless they are familiar with those trying to herd them.
