Day 16 - I Am Not My Own

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Welp you take what the day gives you. I woke up and knew there would be wind. I did not know the extent of that wind. And let me tell you, it was windy. I called Luke this morning as I was getting ready to leave camp, filtered some water, then called mom and dad as I got going. I knew the hills would be a problem but I thought that was it. Each time I reached the top of the hills, the wind blasted me. I tried to stay strong but it was really hard mentally. I freak out even if I’m sitting in class and look outside and see wind so I was just praying for strength. I stopped 28 in and was able to find some shelter behind some grass lol. I went another couple miles and called mom. As she and Tyjua were motivating me, I stopped. I was on the verge of crying and said I can’t go any further. It was destroying my mentality. 15-45 mph headwinds are not fun. I pitched my bivy and sleeping bag and rested for about an hour. Talked to dad and tried deciding what to do next. I slept another couple of hours and then called Elise, Caleb and then my parents on what I should do. We decided it best for me to just stay here until morning. I think this was the right call. I was able to talk with Ellis and then mom some more. Probably going to bed early tonight. Gonna try and do some more tomorrow. Today was the first day I really did not enjoy. It’s hard and frustrating when you feel great but the weather holds you back. I’m praying the winds die down so that at least I can ride further tomorrow. Also I’m not sure when I’ll get a chance to put in pictures but hoping it’s soon. Also. I need to give a HUGE shoutout to my mom. Not only does she hype me up each day, she also gave me the idea to put my meat sticks in my bungees. So thanks mom :)

Today's ride: 31 miles (50 km)
Total: 2,178 miles (3,505 km)

Holly NelsonHey Jude, Mrs. Nelson again!
Thinking about your travels a lot and praying this prayer for you…
Lord God our Father, You kept Abraham and Sarah in safety throughout the days of their pilgrimage, You led the children of Israel through the midst of the sea, and by a star You led the Wise Men to the infant Jesus. Protect and guide us (Jude) now in this time as we set out to travel. Make our ways safe and homecomings joyful, and bring us at last to our heavenly home, where You dwell in glory with Your Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen

And remember Jude, Pentecost is this Sunday— the Holy Spirit comes like a mighty rushing wind. Embrace it
(easy for me to say).
