Day 1 - Blessed Assurance
“All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will not cast out” John 6:37
The first day. Doesn’t really feel like it. It doesn’t feel like I started and it feels like day 15 all at the same time. Dad made breakfast this morning and I left shortly after. I was sad saying bye to my parents but thankfully Mr. McCollum was joining me for the first part. He did 40 with me. What a gift!! I didn’t think about loneliness once. Such a good way to ease into the trip. I hit the Wisconsin sign and that felt pretty scary leaving Illinois. I was pretty tired mentally and physically for about 40 miles in the middle but once I hit 85-90 I seemed to wake up. My route today was not the most ideal but it was fun going through neighborhoods/farm gravel roads. The headwind was a bit worse than expecting but the hills block it nicely. I think a little after mile 100 Caleb Ryan called at just the perfect time. I turned onto a road where I had 28 miles on it and the wind would be brutal. We talk for 5-6 miles and it made the rest go by so much faster. So grateful. And 135 I stopped for some pizza at a gas station and Dad sent me a place a bit further down the road. Decided for it to make it 5 miles longer. Worth it. Happy with how I rode those last 20-25 miles. Overall a great day and excited for more like it. Got to call Dad before bed and JT as well. So good.
Thank you to everyone that came by to see me the last few days, called, texted, or commented. I feel so loved so thank you.
