My wife Jen has a Da Brim and loves it. I haven't gotten there yet. I do wear a surgical scrub cap under my helmet.

I feel naked on my bike without a helmet on.  It's a bit like not wearing a seatbelt in a car.  However, I always remove it if I go into a shop or something similar.  I certainly remove it (and my cycling gloves) when going to the loo.
