Dodie here. I see that both Steve (above) and I (comment on map picture) said basically the same thing. This was done without coordination and so it must be true, or at least, independently verified.

Canal du Midi. The official route is a bumpy, muddy, tree root infested slog, as we remember it anyways. We bailed to quiet parallel roads and enjoyed it much more.

We still send weekly "postcards from the continent", usually Germany, France, or Spain, to our Grandkids. They keep them in a "treasure" box. We tried to send them from Mexico one year, but postcards and stamps were hard to find and the few we sent took several months to arrive.

Thank you for the info. I'm passing it on to our tour coordinator. We'll see how we fare.
Aloha

You seem to be heading west? On the Canal du Midi. This is only nominally a bike route, since it is known to be a mostly single track mud and tree root infested canal side slog. We have tried it several times, a few years apart, and were forced to abandon it each time and take to nearby parallel paved roads which made for much more pleasant riding. Good luck in your attempt.
