Andrew,
If I remember correctly, it was dirt road from Port Agusta to Alice and then the old US built single lane bitumen from there to Darwin. Many of the creek crossings were washed out.
In a $250 EH station wagon...
1975 Victa, it would have been single lane then hey?
2 years agoLast time I was on that stretch of road was 1975... a friendly roadhouse, with a real chicken curry, and $12 camping on real grass. As Scomo would say, "how good is that!"
2 years agoHi Bill, just noticed I did my reply to you wrong. We do have Boabs up in the Kimberly region but you are correct, that is a Bottle Tree. I thought the two types of tree might be related but apparantly not. One of the many beauties of cycle touring is I'm always learning and it's so good having someone like you helping us out - awesome

2 years agoThanks Bill, we do have Boabs in the top of WA but you are correct this is a Bottle. I did a bit more research from your link and they are two different species of tree - I'm always learning - another big plus of cycle touring.
2 years agoNot too hard to figure given distribution of bottle tree is AU and boab is Africa.
