Hi ya Sandy, just hopped over to CGOAB for a look and see you rode Daniel Pass - well done. Have been keen on that one since Codhead rode it. Sounds like you are still well.
Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew
Good to see a good man can’t be kept down. Seriously thinking of putting my next Febuary ride on this site. How easy is it to transfer a journal from our ‘old’ site ?
Hope alls well in Darwin and looking forward to following your adventures on Cycle Blaze
Cheers
Sandy

Totally agree - perfect for a person with your photographic skills. I find this with all of the big rivers - love touring near the Mekong in Vietnam, Lao and Thailand.

Thanks Bruce - cleared that one up for me.

I love the waterfront area in Monywa. The late afternoon light there is always gorgeous and there is always interesting activity too.

It's called a Chedi in Thailand and a Pagoda in Burma.

Google Map Touring is the best for me these days and even better on this trip because I was using Agoda for the first time and they have reviews as well. Can get a better standard of accom this way and with Agoda, generally at a fair price.

We were staying at a dump down the street from The Chindwin but bought breakfast here every morning, superb. And great views.

I certainly agree with that Mike - I used to travel with that special tool. Latest technology with the preload cap etc - I think they've just outsmarted themselves.

Thanks Andrea, yeh good stuff for sure and this was a particularly good one. As I got into the remote mountains on the way to India they still called the noodle soup Mohinga but it was totally different - still nice though. Had a re-read of your Vietnam journal - 1st time was when it was on CGOAB. When I went up to the Karst mountain area where your home page photo was taken I looked for your journal but couldn't find it obviously because it's now here. But I thought the place you stayed was Lang Son and when I got there there was no such Karst mountains. Found plenty after that though. Rereading now - obviously u went to Bac Son which is a bit to the West of Lang Son. No problem - gives me an excuse to head back that way to see Bac Son - certainly a beautiful part of the world.

On this most recent trip to Myanmar we really got into eating mohinga any chance we could. Our guesthouse owner in Bagan had us come down to the kitchen to watch it being made (surprisingly difficult).

The old square taper cranks were far less faff, just an 8mm hex to tighten but you needed a special tool to remove.
