Interestingly, the flight portion still fell within the norm for duration that I always seek. That massive delay (that’s how the pilot described it) and the time of day it occurred is what sent us for a loop. Now, I really understand the physical and emotional effects of these delays! Fingers crossed that BA will come through with timely compensation.
2 months agoWhere is the “warp speed, Scottie!”??
Good grief! What a long drawn-out beginning to the adventures. No shooting out of the blocks at the crack of the pistol shot. However, you arrived in fairly decent shape, (in one piece?), & importantly; the luggage got there with you! Huzzah 🙌
We will be riding with you both in the spirit of it all.
May the wind be at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your faces,
& safe rides always, until we have our next coffee meeting! Salut, bisous 😚 Ciao
Yes, indeed. Hoping we won’t need it too often, but heeding the warning of our friend’s brother who just made it through the unexpected storm last September by the skin of his teeth.
2 months agoYay! The super gear! May it come in handy, but not be called on too often! Wear it well.

2 months agoI hear you, Mike. I will always be a map lover and prefer to think of this device as expanding my options. I’m looking forward to its Climb! feature where it automatically displays all the graphics for the climb and tells you to Climb! As for getting drawn into the weeds and ditches, I’m praying the cycle.travel algorithm is as good as I hope it is. Yesterday, it came through with flying colours.

2 months agoI had to look it up, since they don't seem to have it at A&W! Maccheroni Amatriciana contains:
Maccheroni Pasta: A type of tubular pasta, similar to macaroni, typically cut into short lengths.
Amatriciana Sauce: This sauce is made with guanciale, tomatoes, Pecorino Romano cheese, and sometimes chili flakes or onions.
Pecorino Romano Cheese: A hard, salty sheep's milk cheese, used to finish the dish.
Guanciale: Cured pork cheek, often sliced and cooked in the sauce.
Tomatoes: Either fresh or canned, forming the base of the sauce.
Chili Flakes (optional): Add a touch of heat to the dish.
Perfect after ride snack!

2 months agoAmazing you were there for this. I've been following and watching The Giro closely!
2 months agoGlad you and your belongings eventually arrived intact. We found in the past once we get that 1st ride under our belt the jet lag soon becomes a vague memory. Hope the weather cooperates. Safe travels!
2 months agoHope you had a good flight over. Fun to see you guys off yesterday. Good write up and looking forward to your next post(s).

Yes, thank goodness for resilience. After recovering sleep and getting re-hydrated, we are walking upright and loving every minute of being here.
