Nah, just dress warmly and try to ignore it. Besides, we have been living on the much warmer west coast for the past 45 years and have grown soft.
3 months agoAnd here I thought the people of The Great White North were impervious to cold. ;^)
3 months agoThanks for researching this. It is too difficult to do while on tour and by the time we would get home we would have forgotten.
3 months agoThis was fun to research. The structure was designed by Daniel Rubio, the municipal architect at the time, for Joaquín Hortelano and was known as Casa Hortelano. It then became a children's hospital, followed by the headquarters of the Social Council of the University of Castilla-La Mancha and later the headquarters of the Local Police. Renovated in 2004, it now houses the Albacete Municipal Museum of Knives and Cutting Tools.
But, that's not all. The Sanchez the plaza was named for was the mayor of Albacete in 1843. After the Spanish Civil War, the names of many streets and public spaces were changed to align with the political winds of the Franco regime. The plaza wa renamed to honor Josè Calvo Sotelo, a major anti-republican figure who was assassinated by leftists. The assassination led to greater public support for the military coup that happened soon after. Don't know how long after the death Franco before the plaza was restored to its original name.
Only cycling, or walking bikes, from train station to our nearby hotel. Then we will be walking to see some sights. Don't worry, we'll be careful.
3 months agoMadrid is going to be big and scary for cycling maybe? No getting hit by trucks!

3 months agoIt seems like the bottom plate should just be a simple part replacement. From your shots it looks like the lens itself is fine but the zoom mechanism must have gotten injured from the impact too. A thousand dollars should buy a lot of repair services. Even if you can’t find the right shop locally you could probably mail it somewhere.
3 months agoMaybe I'll email a photo of the wrecked bottom plate. I thought I had it nicely glued and taped up, but 10 days on the lens jammed. In a reply to Karen Poret I am blaming the Spanish air, but these zoom lens cameras are so inexplicably finnicky!
3 months agoHumourous! Actually Scott mailed all his cameras to us. But yeah, a reverse camera flow would be fun too. Scott thinks my camera should be fixable, but he has not seen the wreck of its bottom plate. I thought I had it well sealed up with glue and tape, but ten days later the lens decided to jam up. Maybe the Spanish air?
3 months agoNot a good plan. We have considerably less storage space to work with than Steve does.
3 months agoIf only.
3 months agoI told him to mail it to you, Scott..🫣 for your collection of Grampies cameras..
3 months agoIf you look just at the blue on the building it could be a bird! Count it as a “replacement” species , in “honor” of the P-950.

Hooray! And congratulations on arriving with plenty of time to recover if something goes wrong.
