Your planning thought processes sound like mine! Also a retired P.Eng. (as we abbreviate it in Canada).
5 minutes agoThai cave rescue had a lot of media coverage here in Oz because the two caving experts who carried out the rescue were Aussies. One was a doctor and the other a vetinarian.

3 days agoHi Tom
I did the P'tit Train du Nord last year. I was camping, so I won't be much help with the lodging, except that I stayed in Maniwaki at Chateau Logue because of foul weather. I can recommend it. The room was huge and two of us had ample room to spread out our wet gear. From there we took the Véloroute des Draveurs, which was beautiful, but there were parts that were a slog on the soft surface, and I'm running 50mm tires. Still a far more pleasant option than the high speed traffic on the 105.
Looking forward to reading about your trip. Happy trails.
Definitely an aardvark!
