Hi Gretchen-
One of the best things about bike touring is meeting people. You meet all sorts, in any variety of situations. So far I'd say it's been 100 percent positive.

2 years agoDave and I have tent camped in bear country and had encounters. Truly not fun. One bear was grubbing next to our tent, close enough we heard him huffing around. Prayers for your safety these next nights!

2 years agoMy phone will go in the handlebar bag at the first sign of rain.
I know the tires I received today will fit because they were the ones I took off to put the brand new ones on, before leaving home three weeks ago.
I've booted tires when punctures got too big, but never think of it for pinholes. I've got strips of Tyvek as a permanent part of what goes in the wedge pack, so I can save my money for candy and ice cream.

Yep, that pretty much made my day. A couple others from that same time period and company are also following me and commenting; it's like we're getting the old band back together. That was a really special time in my life so I cling to and cherish those memories particularly.
