You can fix anything with duct tape and cable ties but what is that device?

Hmm. Your "spartan" comments aren't what I'd expect of a 3-star hotel. Then I looked at what is required. Interesting! https://www.canaldumidi.bike/hotel-stars.html

Just a warning n your train ride to Orthez. Be prepared when you get to Narbonne for the fact that its station does not have elevators. I think there's no choice but to go down and up through the underpass, so be sure you've targeted the correct platform.

Of course we're interested in the details of train travel. They're the source of the best stories. Between you and the Grampies' nightmare yesterday it's made it really worth dipping into the journals these past two days. We have our own long journey (Pescara to Ventimiglia) coming up in a few days though, so this makes me start to feel anxious.

You made it, and it sounds like you’re sort of chuckling about it now. Inevitable hassles of touring but once you’re on the bikes more or less full time all will be sweet.

Train days are sooo stressful. Ours was yesterday, when we got on the wrong train and travelled over 100 extra kilometres to finally work our way back to where we had made the error and start over again. I mean, we got there in the end, but oh were we ever tired. Glad your (first) day went reasonably well. Wishing you luck on the rest.

I had no idea you did the Kumano Kudo Trail last year. I did it about 6 years ago. I had a great time as well.

I thought it was the Grampies that came up with the jammer rating. I'm happy to hear the origins, as the saying is now imbedded in a number of journals! It's a fun Cycle Blaze tradition!
